911 people died at Jonestown. 260 were children murdered by their parents.
Religious Suicide and the Afterlife
Belief in the afterlife and the transience and inferiority of physical existence go hand in hand. This makes it possible for individuals to either commit suicide or commit murder in a violent act of martyrdom to enter the cosmic realm. Neither is an act of responsibility or caring for the world. Each debases the physical world of the 'mother' to the 'kingdom' of the father. No one can care properly for the world or take responsibility if they are prepared to sacrifice the physical to the illusion of the Kingdom or the afterlife in this way.
White Nights and Dark Deaths: The Jonestown Massacre
911 people died at the hands of Jim Jones. It is estimated that 70 adults and 260 children were murdered. His last statement heard on a recording of the mass suicides was "We got tired. We didn't commit suicide, we commited an act of revolutionary suicide protesting the conditions of an inhuman world". The 260 children who died, lacking dental records were never identified. It took six months to find a cemetry for the bodies which had been turned away across northern California. Jones believed himself to be an incarnation of both Jesus Christ and Lenin. Obsessed by the threat of nuclear war, he set up the Guyana colony to protect his followers and felt the socialist government of Guyana would be sympathetic to his message of racial and social equality. However he came under scrutiny because defectors accused him of physical and sexual abuse.
When a group Concerned Relatives raised concern, congressman Leo Ryan flew to Jonestown. He was entertained and then threatened and received a minor knife injury. Only some two dozen people chose to leave with him. However a group of men follwed him back tot he plane, open fire and killed Ryan, three journalists and one of the temple memebers who chose to leave.
"Where's the vat, the vat, the vat? The vat with the green C. Bring it so the adults can begin."
Shortly after Ryan was killed the suidices began. Jones ranted about the betrayal of those who had left, suggesting that to prove their loyalty to him, his followers must now die. The children were killed first. A calm woman nurses voice assures the parents that their children are not suffering.
Maaga concentrates not on Jones himself but the personalities of powerful women in the movement, including Carolyn and Annie Moore. However Jones' own son scathingly referred to Jones mistresses as sacrificial martyrs and the temple's leaders as a white elite, despite 3/4 of the Jonestown residents being black. Jones had many rehersals for the suicide over months called "white nights'. Those in the leadership were obliged to pledge in writing to kill themselves should there be a need to stage a final "white night".
Annie Moore, one of Jones' mistresses said shortly beforehand "I never thought people would line up to bekilled but acutally think a select group would have to kill the people secretly without the people knowing it".
US government documents on the affair remain classified posibly because of CIA involvement.
The Solar Temple cult immolated themselves in the shadow of the death of Jacques of Molay.
Death in the Form of the Cross
24-3-97: ST CASIMIR - The Order of the Solar Temple cult has blazed back into the headlines as five people perished in a grisly incident with all the hallmarks of a chain of 1994 murder-suicides in Switzerland and Canada. Alain Quirion, the chief police investigator on the scene in this rural community 60km from Quebec City, said yesterday that three women and two men were found dead when fireflghters put out a blaze at a home on Sunday. Authorities said firefighters discovered four of the bodies stretched out on a bed on the second storey in the form of a cross. Letters found in the house spoke of a "departure in a parabolic fashion," suggesting the likelihood of a group suicide effort, officials said. A total of 53 members of the cult are known to have died in Quebec and Switzerland in 1994.
Forty-eight were found in a farm house and three chalets in Switzerland; five were discovered hours later in a burned house in Morin Heights, near Montreal. In 1995, another 16 members of the cult were found dead in a burned house near Grenoble, in the French Alps. The sect believes death by ritualized suicide leads to rebirth in a place called "Sirius." Authorities in Switzerland went on alert to avert a new mass murder-suicide. Police in the Geneva, Fzibourg and Lausanne areas took what were described as "precautionary measures' against known Solar Temple chalet compounds. - APP
As promised the keys of heaven's gate are here again in
Ti and Do (The UFO Two) as they were in Jesus and his Father 2000
Heaven's gate to the Space of the Next Level
Rancho Santa Fe 31st March 1997: 39 Heaven's Gate cultists were led to a final death ritual by their charismatic leader Marshall Applewhite, believing that a spaceship hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet nearing Earth was waiting to take them to heaven. They took phenbarbitone tablets in pudding or apple sauce. washed it down with vodka and pulled plastic bags over their heads. A Los Angeles television and movie producer who had been working with the cult on a movie based on their beliefs about life on earth and moving on the the "Kingdon of God" said "I was shocked. ... they were a little wierd they way they looked and dressed, but were so eager and enthusiastic."
A member of the Kingdom of Heaven
Two former members of the UFO cult said they were confident they had beamed up to a space ship as their leader had promised. Wayne Cooke, whose wife Suzanne was among those who killed themselves told 60-minutes "I think she's probably on another space-craft somewhere out there" He was sorry he missed the suicide and wished he had the courage to follow suit. "I wish I had the strength to have remained to have gained the kind of control through Do's (Marshall) help... to have stuck it out and gotten stronger and continued to be part of that crew. They left when a comet came. They left in Easter week. This was something she worked all her life to accomplish. She graduated to the next level. Obviously a stage is being set by the next level for this world , for others to examine this." Sawyer, another former member said he once believed in Do's message of renouncing human ties and corporeal distractions to the point that he considered emulating the former music teacher and voluntarily castrating himself (as Origen, the early Christian 'father' did). But he flipped a coin and 'lost'.
Under the terms of a bizarre policy taken out with British insurers through an underwriter specializing in policies against alien abduction and virgins becoming pregnant by immaculate conception, each cult member stood to receive $1 million in the event of alien abduction, alien impregnation or death by alien attack. But a verdict of death by suicide by the US coroner would invalidate any claims.
Hale-Bopp photographed by Alen Ginzburg - reached perihelion 31st March 1997
Whether Hale-Bopp has a "companion" or not is irrelevant from our perspective. However, its arrival is joyously very significant to us at "Heaven's Gate." The joy is that our Older Member in the Evolutionary Level Above Human (the "Kingdom of Heaven") has made it clear to us that Hale-Bopp's approach is the "marker" we've been waiting for -- the time for the arrival of the spacecraft from the Level Above Human to take us home to "Their World" -- in the literal Heavens. Our 22 years of classroom here on planet Earth is finally coming to conclusion -- "graduation" from the Human Evolutionary Level. We are happily prepared to leave "this world" and go with Ti's crew.
Do - Marshall Applewhite in Video suicide address
We know that it is only while we are in these physical vehicles (bodies) that we can learn the lessons needed to complete our own individual transition, as well as to complete our task of offering the Kingdom of Heaven to this civilization one last time. We take good care of our vehicles so they can function well for us in this task, and we try to protect them from any harm. We fully desire, expect, and look forward to boarding a spacecraft from the Next Level very soon (in our physical bodies). There is no doubt in our mind that our being "picked up" is inevitable in the very near future.
But what happens between now and then is the big question. We are keenly aware of several possibilities. It could happen that before that spacecraft comes, one or more of us could lose our physical vehicles (bodies) due to "recall," accident, or at the hands of some irate individual. We do not anticipate this, but it is possible. Another possibility is that, because of the position we take in our information, we could find so much disfavor with the powers that control this world that there could be attempts to incarcerate us or to subject us to some sort of psychological or physical torture (such as occurred at both Ruby Ridge and Waco). It has always been our way to examine all possibilities, and be mentally prepared for whatever may come our way.
For example, consider what happened at Masada around 73 A.D. A devout Jewish sect, after holding out against a siege by the Romans, to the best of their ability, and seeing that the murder, rape, and torture of their community was inevitable, determined that it was permissible for them to evacuate their bodies by a more dignified, and less agonizing method. We have thoroughly discussed this topic (of willful exit of the body under such conditions), and have mentally prepared ourselves for this possibility (as can be seen in a few of our statements).
However, this act certainly does not need serious consideration at this time, and hopefully will not in the future. The true meaning of "suicide" is to turn against the Next Level when it is being offered. In these last days, we are focused on two primary tasks: one - of making a last attempt at telling the truth about how the Next Level may be entered (our last effort at offering to individuals of this civilization the way to avoid "suicide"); and two - taking advantage of the rare opportunity we have each day - to work individually on our personal overcoming and change, in preparation for entering the Kingdom of Heaven.
A Shrine to Martyrs of the Jihad
In the Qur'an, Muhammad stated that Isa did not die a death of agony on the cross but was taken straight up to heaven:
4.157 "And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure. Nay! Allah took him up to Himself; and Allah is Mighty, Wise."
In 3:55, the phrase "I am gathering thee", and in 5:117, the phrase "when Thou tookest me" are forms of the same Arabic word "tawaffa". Both these verses refer to the return of Jesus to God at the end of his life, and the most straightforward interpretation of them is to suppose that they refer to a natural death of Jesus at the end of his earthly life, but it can also mean that he was taken to heaven without undergoing the experience of physical death.
Said Iyad Sarraj, a Palestinian psychiatrist who has studied suicide killers "the basic drive for self-destruction is the same ... They all believe that they are not going to die, that they are moving from one phase of life to a higher one." In paradise, they are told, the bomber wilI be crowned with glory and achieve the ultimate - he will see the face of Allah.
This idea has led to a long line of Islamic 'martyrs', particularly young bachelors, who commit murder-suicide in acts of violence believing they will attain the highest sainthood in heaven. It is an idea which Muhammad has spun on top of the blood of the redeemer, and it is an idea that must stop once Jesus comes down from the cross. It is in this spirit only - for the mistaken journey made by such martyrs - that this shrine is erected.
